Notes From The FoundersMay, 2007 We created Terralina™ because we believe it's important to have wonderful skincare products with less chemical ingredients. We want our customers, friends, and children to understand that creams and lotions are absorbed into the body and are proud to have created a product that doesn't pollute our environment or our bodies. Because we also believe in feeling and looking beautiful, our products are luxurious and effective. In our first blog post of March 2007, we introduced ourselves and explained the personal motivations behind Terralina. Below, is our mission and our credo: the top four reasons we created Terralina. 1) Take care of yourself. You are what you... moisturize? It's true. What goes onto the skin goes into your body. We created our line of skin care to be rich in antioxidants and free of any harsh or potentially harmful ingredients. If a product is not safe to take when you are pregnant, why is it automatically all right for you to take when you are not? We believed it was possible to create a luxury line of skincare without parabens, PEGs, ethoxylates, glycols, acrylates, silicones, mineral oils, or artificial fragrance . To some this might seem extreme, to others not enough. Since the FDA does not regulate the personal care industry, it is up to you to become informed. Take the time to think about how you are treating yourself, what you are breathing, drinking and putting into your body. Become more aware of what is potentially harmful and you will make an informed decision about what you ingest through your skin- Visit the articles on the subject of potentially harmful ingredients available on www.terralina.com. Or take a look through our glossary of ingredient terms so you can understand what is in Terralina products as well as what might be in the products that you currently use. If you care about what you put in your body, you should care about what you put on your skin. 2) Take care of each other. Our goal is to share information and inspire others to do the same. Encourage those you care about to take the time to think about what they are putting in their body. If your child's acne medicine also bleaches your towels, you may want to think about what is going into their bloodstream. 3) Take care of the planet. We have worked very hard to use environmentally sensitive business practices, such as under packaging, using post consumer recycled material and encouraging the reuse of some of our containers. We are not perfect and are the very beginning of doing the best job that we can for the environment. We link to sites we believe do an excellent job in making consumers aware of what they can do on a small and grand scale. We do not test our products on animals and are committed to not doing so in the future. 4) Look beyond labels. Do you feel better when you buy something labeled "all-natural" or "organic"? When it comes to chicken, we're all for it, but healthy skin care demands a finer balance. We do not believe that products have to be all natural or highly synthetic to be effective. We think products should be good for you. Many products labeled "all-natural" can be highly irritating to people with sensitive skin. TerralinaTM does contain a few synthetic ingredients such as a preservative that is necessary, safe, and effective, Hyaluronic Acid, which hydrates the skin, and soy-based ceramide which protects the skin's barrier function. We seek the best natural solutions for healthy skincare, blend that with science, and share it with you. (See our Formulation Philosophy.) Thank you for reading, and please share any part of this with people you care about! ![]() |
