The Terralina StoryBrought together by family ties and a passion for healthy living, established business women and beauty connoisseurs Gina Garrubbo and Patricia Bazán Garrubbo partnered to create this unique line of natural, luxury skincare. Terralina’s smooth texture begs you to indulge, without worry. The duo's quest to create a new breed of skincare began eight years ago, when cousins Gina and Patricia were pregnant at the same time. The women wanted to treat their bodies (and their growing babies) to only the best. They realized that while eating organic and hormone-free food was relatively simple, it was not easy to understand the potential dangers in personal care products. They found ingredient lists confusing, articles incomplete or misleading, and after much investigation, discovered that the FDA does not really regulate these products. "Most people don't realize that what they put on their skin goes into their bodies," says Gina, media veteran and one of the builders of women.com. "We wanted skincare that was good for us both inside and out and were distressed that some of the so-called ‘natural skincare’ companies were deceptive about their ingredients." The women continued to discuss their concerns and founded the Terralina product line in 2005. After three years of research and development, they introduced Terralina. The initial Terralina product line includes a Facial Moisturizer, Gentle Facial Cleanser, Gentle Toner, and Body Lotion. "We don't believe that skincare products need to be either ‘all-natural’ or ‘full of chemicals’ to be effective," says Patricia, a former art gallery owner and lawyer by trade. "Our practice is to get the best out of the natural ingredients in our products, all of which are at least 98.85% natural. Instead of aggressive detergents, harmful sulfates, drying alcohols or synthetic ethoxylated materials which are irritating and possibly harmful, we use a system of naturally derived gentle cleansers, natural emollients, soothing botanicals and natural antioxidants." The founders' openness about product ingredients is part of Terralina's larger mission: to educate consumers on making healthy choices when purchasing personal care. To that end, Terralina.com provides a glossary of all ingredient terms as an easy reference tool, as well as links to articles and organizations committed to environmental and consumer awareness. Terralina maintains a commitment to the environment with products that are under-packaged. The company uses recycled materials whenever possible, encourages consumers to always recycle and reuse product containers. They even go so far as to provide a votive candle for the reuse of their moisturizer jar. |
